I want to like this song, but I can't. While I agree in concept, it'd be somewhat similar for me to write a song called 'White Trash' and then sing a song about the difference between, say, a lower class white person and 'white trash' so people know when to spot it, it's different since white trash wasn't ever used along with violence at the same time. I don't recall white trash ever being used in reference to another human being under permanent duress. As well, the slavery verse about blacks selling out their own to slave traders, I feel like it's kind of self-hating sounding when clearly both parties in this scenario he speaks about are clearly at fault and truth be told, slavery exists today around the world and yet we as a country don't really even talk about it and in my estimation it might be due to the fact we actually do business with countries that legally practice slavery. At any rate, interesting take, but I'll kindly disagree with the premise, but agree with the fact that the word nigger isn't even really a big deal and like any word, it's intent is the message of the word, not the fact it's said. I mean, a perfect example is the word shit. Something can be shit or it can be the shit. Same word, obviously different connotation. Someone can 'acting like a nigger' as referenced in this song (i.e. 'that dude's acting like a nigger') vs. being a nigger (i.e. 'shut up, nigger'.). I think mostly people that are cool with non black people saying nigger or it's more colloquial version 'nigga' know that it's all in who's saying it and why they're using it and it's always been that way, afaik. I was under the impression that was why the black community sort of hijacked it away to remove the intention of the word...could be wrong, though.

12 years a slave movie shows how ignorant the word nigger is. Also, religion is man made. Man has made god in his image. Why can't people live in the present moment and treat others like they want to be treated. Instead of these ancient fairy tales that has more to do with UFO's and primitive people than anything else. :Peace.

I'm latin atheist, I don't like using the word "nigger" but this song has good arguments that, to be honest, makes me feel uncomfortable because it challenges my world view (which is a good thing). However I love the beat and I can't stop listening. So congratulations Greydon, you're a brilliant rapper! your songs are so fucking great, because rap is meant to make you think about social matters, and never a rap song has make me feel such a love/hate experience while listen to it.

I am black and I feel offended when people use the N word. So maybe in your world there might not be such a thing as the N word because you are too ignorant about the history and what that word represents or why people would try to avoid saying it. None of my white friends addresses me by n*gger or n*gga because I don't use that word. Please spare me the term of endearment crap when black people use it with each other. I get that rappers use it in their songs but it is just foolish to come on here and say that there is no such thing as the N word. The N word exist for this black man so don't try to tell the world that it is any different.

I have nothing but respect for people who so clearly and articulately proclaim a truth... especially when that truth is the last thing anyone wants to hear. Great song!

Thank you 0:42 People still want Nigger to have some type of power over a certain group of people. The shit is ignorant and if you acting ignorant then you are a nigga, no matter what color your skin shows. No censorship.
