The anti commercial aspect of this song seems apt after watching grown men and women fight over 'stuff' on Black Friday. I might be a dyed in the wool atheist but that seemed as far from the spirit of the season as you can get. Best Christmas song ever!

LOL! I met the member of the original ASIA November 2012 in Iowa. Same thing, here. I felt like a little girl and was saying stupid things! John Wetton said "You guys enjoy the show!" I actually said "You too!" I'm an idiot, too.

To emerse myself with my family over the holiday - my presence here will be sparse. In the meanwhile, I want to thank you all known and yet to meet for being in my learning community.Inclusive of all faiths - I wish you renewal in your commitment to your personal leadership - continued strength and resilience - deeper levels of compassion - and the courage to create open space for reflection.Warmth and joy,Jennifer Greg Lake - I Believe in Father Christmas (Live, 1994)

it's not nearly as cynical as you may think. greg lake wrote it around the acoustic intro which reminded him of jingle bells so he and his writing partner decided to write a christmas song. he explained in an interview that there are three types of christmas songs religious, party and songs about the feelings of christmas.for most people christmas memories are bittersweet full of joy but also disillusionment and loss thats what he was trying to portray and he did it brilliantly.

*Something I have observed about the holidays* during my life here in the northwestern corner of the United States. As Christmas draws closer, many people - possibly even a majority - grow:- Increasingly anxious and stressed out- More self-absorbed and distracted- Less communicative with others- Less cheerfulThis is nothing new of course, and much has been said/written about it, for many years passing. Thus, it's really no mystery that those without family or with few friends find this a sad season, a hopeless season. As that "glorious day" draws near, they are increasingly shut out, and on Christmas Eve the door slams shutStill it goes on, year after year. And for those who replay all of the above with each passing Christmas (and heaven knows, nobody wants to believe this is about them) why this happens is easy to understand:Because you *let it.*

I met all three..Emerson, Lake and Palmer poolside after their Charlotte, NC show. I ws so awestruck that I could not speak properly. I was an idiot. I should have said "You changed the way I listen to music, and you send me into trance." Thank you, Carl, I love hearing your voice, and your songs are genius. <3

They said there'll be snow at ChristmasThey said there'll be peace on EarthBut instead, it just kept on rainingA veil of tears for the Virgin birthI remember one Christmas morningA winter's light and a distant choirAnd the peal of a bellAnd that Christmas tree smellAnd their eyes full of tinsel and fireThey sold me a dream of ChristmasThey sold me a Silent NightAnd they told me a fairy storyTil I believed in the IsraeliteAnd I believed in Father ChristmasAnd I looked to the sky with excited eyesThen I woke with a yawnIn the first light of dawnAnd I saw him and through his disguiseI wish you a hopeful ChristmasI wish you a brave New YearAll anguish pain and sadnessLeave your heart and let your road be clearThey said there'd be snow at ChristmasThey said there'll be peace on EarthHallelujah, Noel, be it Heaven or HellThe Christmas we get, we deserve
