The Greg Kihn Band's Byrds-like reworking of Bruce Springsteen's For You." Much like the Byrds did with Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man," Kihn & co. changed the song to a straightforward 4/4 beat, abridged the lyrics, and let the guitars chime.

Not bad, but I prefer the heavier version by Manfred Mann....which was reworked into an awesome dance track by The Disco Boys

Look at Greg --- throwing down some righteous power pop.

Still prefer the Springsteen song. Oh, and they got the lyrics wrong ... :)

I still think Manfred Mann did this song the way it really should have been done(much the same way All Along The Watchtower via Jimi was) but all this early GKB stuff on here is downright awesome. Have not heard these songs in over 30 yrs.. YT is a godsend.

Covered Springsteen in a way Manfred Mann could barely conceive of. Terrific harmonica in the middle 16. They don't honk it like that anymore.

Saw them 19 times in high school at Old Waldorf etc. Yeah, wish the sound was better but at least it's here

Used to love those early Greg Kihn LPs. So beautifully recorded. Beserkley label, wasn't it? But somehow not really doing it for me via crummy YouTube sound. :)

Great video too, a real trip down memory lane. I can remember getting all those albums as they came out and was lucky enough to see him live once early on in a small place.

This almost makes me sad...this is very early in his career (I had all those early albums on vinyl when they were still current and new) when I assume there was a lot of ambition and hope for a big career in music. And, although he had a few hits, was played on mtv and such, he never got the acclaim he really deserved. A pop hitmaker in the truest sense. Keep it going, Greg!

Spine-tingling pop, all the right elements.
