This song does not belong to me, and I'm only sharing because I feel like others should hear it. If the artist notifies me wishing me to remove it then I will be more than happy to. Thanks! =)

I saw several live videos uploaded to YouTube, but I felt the recorded version should be on here as well. Enjoy!

Artist - Greg Graffin

Album - Cold As The Clay

Song - Watchmaker's Dial

Year - 2006

-Lyrics-

Oh, yonder stands the prophet, words are music to our ears,

But down among the sinners, only pain and sweat and tears

The sermon soothes the simple but the rest are rapt with fear,

Oh no, too late to hold a trial, time doesn't wait for the watchmaker's dial

In the best laid plans of history lie the ruins of the past

And a chronicle of suffering shows the mythic pall they cast

To believe is true religion but to see is truth at last

Oh no, too late to hold a trial, time doesn't wait for the watchmaker's dial

Time doesn't wait for the watchmaker's dial

Some people have beliefs, some people are naive and some people are close-minded. Beliefs are one thing, blind acceptance is another and naivety along with arrogance in one's ways is the worst of it all. I dont think you can say jesus does not exist, he probably did, probably a good man but he probably never claimed to be the messiah and the follows turned his legacy into what we know today. Sad really...

It’s sad that he doesn’t write about Metaphysics more often. I read that he stands with Dawkins and that he believes that God doesn’t exist. Too bad. I’ll pray for him ;)

I haven’t read his book yet but I think the problem comes from that some people use their sense of guilt in an unconstructive way. Instead of questioning themselves about their action, they engage in guilt in a way that permits them to feel moral only when they are obeying to the law (like it happens often among religious people). I think Greg attempts in modifying one’s narrative about the world in a way that discredit ‘God’s plan’, discouraging by the same way fatalism.

Yeah, I read that as well. It still comes down to the fact that he doesn't believe in a deity, and therefore, whatever else he is, he is an atheist. Naturalism is what he identifies himself with. He actually said once, and you can find it here on youtube, that he wanted people to be better atheists by calling themselves naturalists.

Greg isn't set in stone as an atheist. He claims to be a naturalist, which is the idea that the laws of nature, rather than supernatural laws, are what operates in the universe, and that nothing exists beyond the natural universe, and IF it does, it doesn't affect the natural universe.

@JJJinJesusChrist Please answer these questions if you can: Why did you come to a video for a song written by an atheist to preach about Jesus? And secondly, Why are you preaching about something that just don't exist in the first place?

Great stuff here; I know a nice atheistic thinking kelloseppä (watchmaker) here in Toijala town; but I know that he´ll be saved by Lord Jesus sooner or later. Jesus loves he so much! Greetings from snowy and windy Finland; JJJInChristJesus
