Being a fan doesn't mean accepting everything a band does. If he liked better the past productions he probably got his own reasons. It doesn't mean that what Green Day do now is terrible, it's just different and if he doesn't like it it's his opinion and it should be respected. For instance: if they went mad and recorded an album full of farts, would you listen to that too because it's the "duty of the fan"? Bullshit.
