RippleGrateful Dead#gratefuldead Written by #jerrygarcia & #roberthunter If my words did glow with the gold of sunshineAnd my tunes were played on the harp unstrungWould you hear my voice come through the musicWould you hold it near as it were your own? It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are brokenPerhaps they're better left unsungI don't know, don't really careLet there be songs to fill the air[Chorus]Ripple in still waterWhen there is no pebble tossedNor wind to blowReach out your hand if your cup be emptyIf your cup is full may it be againLet it be known there is a fountainThat was not made by the hands of menThere is a road, no simple highwayBetween the dawn and the dark of nightAnd if you go no one may followThat path is for your steps alone[Chorus]You who choose to lead must followBut if you fall you fall aloneIf you should stand then who's to guide you?If I knew the way I would take you home

The sky is listening when Jerry sings this song. I seen them many times, had a privilege to see Jerry live before he passed away. I sometimes laugh, when remembering when that lady mixed up Tommy Chong with Jerry Garcia.

many years ago I was camping out in the Indiana Dunes. The Grateful Dead hadjust had a gig in Chicago ...well ...many of their true followers came down to campin the Dunes. Oh my.. it was amazing.... I woke up with a sweet fellow curled upby the warm embers of my fire and another asked me to point him to the lake becausehe needed a bath. Needless to say .... that morning you could get a lovelycontact-high just walking through the park. God Bless them all...Great Memories

So now for my Day 1 choice, Favorite Band / Performer. As I disclosed a minute or two ago, I am a Dead Head. I will take it easy on you though with this acoustic version of Ripple. This was from the 11 night run they did at Radio City in October 1980. Jerry Garcia was at the height of his prowess. I had the pleasure of knowing him well for over ten years and this song is perfect Jerry vocals. Each line is laden with memories. I hope you all enjoy. "If I knew the way, I would take you home."
