Brent was so freakin intense in 89 & 90, really riding on that edge leading to the other side. He was always epic Grateful Dead material. I pray he RIP.

A decent lead singer might have helped this band.

my favorite keyboardist bar none! Why oh why did you have to do that last speedball? The Dead were a shadow of their former selves without you! but we are all richer for having heard you play, sing & write! for that I am eternally Grateful!

WHEN BRENT DIED SO DID THE DEAD

This soulful performance shows why GD shows were so epic. Not just a bunch of performers crankin out another show, another tour, another dollar (though by the end years, money was a motivator for sure). No, Brent lived his tunes, as did Jerry. bobby too for that matter. They were the embodiment of the central narrative character of any song they did. In the end they fell victim to their own devices, just as many of their song characters did. Phil tried to warn Jerry in "If the Shoe Fits".

Sorry guys I hit the enter key by accident, but as I was saying I became a full time member of the Grateful Dead in 78, when Keith & Donna finally left, in which was a well anticipated & needed change by all members. Jerry even said " Like, She would sing way above everyone else & she just couldn't go where we would go or wanted to Go!" This was mostly meant for @ DICKKY BONNER! Sure do miss the Ol' "Lazy River Road"

I met Jerry Garcia through bob weir, in which I played piano, organ, etc.. I would often be invited to play in w/ the dead as both phil & Jerry loved my improvisational skills, thus leading to Keiths good bye, in 78 when I became a full time M's
