A song reminding someone of another group does not mean they are being compared. There is a difference between being reminded of something and comparing something. Besides the beatles were not crappy, the grateful dead would not have been the band they were without them "The Beatles were why we turned from a jug band into a rock 'n' roll band," this is a quote from Bob Weir. I get the impression you have a very narrow perspective on music.
