This wasn't from Anaheim. They didn't play Slow Train in Anaheim, first of all. And second of all, the date of the show is right at start of clip! 7-12-87. That was Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ. First song of set with Dylan. I know, I was there! :)

Bob refers to this period in Chronicles Vol. 1 - great to see-hear him re-hashing the ultra mellow stuff of the past -- into a rattle 'n hum train !!! Good on yer Mr. Zimmerman!

I'm so glad Phil voted to NOT include Dylan. His main gripe was Dylan's unwillingness to practice, ANYTHING (which is so painfully obvious in this performance.) Personally, although I loved the concept, and the Dead & Dylan are my favorite musicians (one for instrumentals, one for the written word), I think it would have been a disaster to pursue the combination any further. Ultimately it would have sullied both artist's legacies. Still, it was fun while it lasted!

Such a great icon of music should know when to give it up - this sounds terrible even for a die hard Dylan fan like me.

Dylan's voice is pretty shot here. The last bootleg I heard him sound good good was probably 1982. Really drunk or something. Glad he seemed to get it together in the mid nineties and stop singing though his nose so much. Kinda a death rattle now but pretty cool and good albums since 97.

I think that Jerry was trying to figure out what happened to the lower half of Bob Wier's pants.

I saw Dylan play with the Dead at the SNACK benefit Bill Graham put on at Kezar Stadium 1975.

Dylan and the Dead didn't play Winterland though. Honestly as much as I love the Grateful Dead (it's an enormous part of my life) and as much as I cherish Dylan for his songs, I always thought that this combo never really took off until maybe the last few shows. Bob Weir and Jerry Garcia look a little constrained here and a few times it seems that they aren't sure what to do. Dylan rushes through this song.
