Weird that i agree with you both. Where as Garcia's 1st thoughts on the tune come out in the early version, the re-master has his sparkle still. Even if it's a bit polished. And we heads like it raw sometimes! Frolic if we may, brother

actually there at least 3 mixes of this album that i am aware of. i had the original as well as the 71 re-master and the european version all with different mixes and sound effects.

The un-remastered version is how he wanted it heard in 1969. The first time it was remastered was 1971, two years after it was first released! So he and the boys definitely had some input on that. Plus, he loved to play around in the studio. They released it on vinyl in 2010 as part of a Box Set. Then there's the whole other aspect that Garcia's philosophy did not hold one version of any song as being "the" version, or the only way to do it. In any event, it is a great tune!
