Roberts words; so natural in meter and so multi-expressive that even Lesh can be a hero. No one close to these characters has hit the stages to my knowledge.

On July 9th, 1995, the #GratefulDead played their final show at Solider Field in Chicago. The final song of their encore was "Box Of Rain", and the closing lyrics are: "Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there."What a fitting finale to the live career of one of the most legendary rock bands in history! Dig the song below...

Yes there was something to be said for this tour, this year though because of all the chaos that took place the band was in a state of disdain for the venues charging excessive ticket prices, younger and more aggro concert-goers, and of course the incident in St. Louis with the pavilion collapsing into the crowd. After this show the band contemplated halting the tour to calm the nerves down a bit. Nobody knew that it would turn out to be the last they would ever play together, or at least with Cpt. Trips (Jerry Garcia). How fitting though that in the last line in the last song ever played it reads "such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there" I love the Grateful Dead and always will, the music and the long trip it took me on shaped what kind of person I became. God bless the Grateful Dead.

the beeps going off are so fitting! these boys had such an amazing run! it seems that throughout their careers the rock gods always had a special place for them in their hearts.

This very honest version and raw and the very last tune- that's what makes it so special. Jerry will live forever in our hearts. If you get a chill listening to this, you got "IT".

Yes 'dreamwad', that is Phil singing and he also sings the studio version on American Beauty as well. And WOW this is very chilling to hear...

The "So many Roads" from this show is haunting, especially with Jerry's "Lord" at the end. Plus the Black Muddy River.. Both bring tears.
