What i like about this song is that it sounds techno-y but also alternative rockish at the same time. Is a very original song like Much of their early work. Would someone share their thoughts with me on this?

Not to mention the progression of the song is pretty commonplace. It's almost the whole 'cannon' by pachelbel, with a bit of a change.

the same with some experimental music... those use of tracks... well, last week i found myself reading the samples from the song "my monkey" by marilyn manson... its full of charles manson's quotes very well used in the meaning of the song (besides you like or not the kind of music)

Yeah, and there are so many of them, too. That's one of the reasons I love listening to hip hop in particular: the rich layers of history and homage through sampling, references, etc. I'm not saying that it always comes out well, but when it does, it's a very rewarding listening experience.

I was listening to Electric Light Orchestra's "Mister Kingdom" the other day, when suddenly, I knew the lyrics. And why? Because Grandaddy lifted them for a verse in "Levitz." From "Oh to sleep" to "inside my head," it was all from that song. And no, I'm not outraged or accusing; in fact, I think it works just as beautifully in "Levitz."
