To me, it's an exploration of her mind. He, like an astronaut, is exploring her mind and heart and finding that it is polluted and haunted with the different burdens and sadnesses of her life represented by the creatures, all the while her mind is wary of his exploration (the white eyes watching him pass by), fearful of it. As he passes through her mind, darkness follows behind him, like a spider web repairing the pollution of sadness as it passes by. The moon/ her mind can go into a new cycle and at the end he has lifted her burdens and brought about peace. Adore this song and the animation.Its poignantly beautiful.
