The scarlet ribbons were (apparently) provided in recognition of this. My dad, how so many miss him, I miss his philosophy , music, and love to live life to the fullest, our last conversation was ,sissy the doctor said I had a heart of a kid, and off he went, I have learned a lot from his passing, that I would not wish on anyone.
