My parents played his music when I was an early teen- they had all of his albums. I understand now why they loved listening to him. His voice is one of a kind. A friend of mine (Jimmy Peters) in recording back in the 70's said he was hard to deal with when recording- he was a perfectionist and demanded retakes over and over until he was satisfied it met his demands.
