Whether by design or he just wanted to play "his" songs to the detriment of his level of stardom, Gordon never fit into a "category"...not country, not rock, maybe folk but folk is dead. He wasn't Dylan or Denver. He was just a real cool Canadian.

I never have even heard of those rare songs. I think I have a 45 rpm that was his first recording, the song is titled "Spin Spin Spin". I also have a K Tel album which is a compilation of many of his early folk stuff, like Mountains And Marianne, Bitter Green, Long Way Back Home, songs like that. I don't even have a turntable to play the Lightfoot records. He said he does not like his early songs at all.

B.U.T I miss little songs which are very very rare and I'm looking everywhere for it ! OK .. Thank you. You must have the biggest and best collection of Lightfoot songs. I was hooked on him immediately when one of my sisters played me his first album in 1970. It was produced in 1966 I think, and just titled "Lightfoot". I heard "Steel Rail Blues" and was hooked. When he became a BIG star in 1970 with "If You Could Read My Mind", I was in HEAVEN !!! No one like him.
