Of all the songs I've ever heard Gordon do, this is my favorite.

Folk-rocking in the best sense of the term. After the Shadows album, I was one Billboard writer who put it in my annual Top 10 at the end of 1982. A colleague there came to me after lunch the first time he heard "Blackberry Wine." He'd been tuned to Vanderbilt Univ. radio. He said, "You won't believe what I just heard. I think Gordon Lightfoot has some of the Stones backing him on this record called 'Blackberry Wine.'" I told him it was nothing new, that he'd gone electric by 1967.
