Who the hell would downvote someone's art? If you don't love it, leave it.

The man to whom Gord Bamford dedicates this tune? His brother-in-law, sadly deceased by his own hand following a long, hard, ruthless, and frigid descent into addict hell, poor soul.(RIP, Cory Mathies 6 October 1969 — 5 June 2011.)That becursifryingly brutal disease takes no prisoners (and, I should know: Come 9 June, I shall raise a glass toasting 33 years of sobrietry [No sic]).Think along those Eliotic lines expounding upon the way in which "[f]or us there is only the trying" in "East Coker" (FOUR QUARTETS) or sing along while GB pours "whiskey on an open wound" in his shiverously unique yet splendorously hurt-broken trademark fashion.Arguably one of the most keeningly heart-shattering recorded-compositional tributes ever laid down on a train-wreck track-set ten-foot digital platter, praise Him. Hallelujah . . .

Love this song has so much sentimental value to me especially losing someone with a severe mental illness. Saw him at Boots and Hearts on Sunday and he was amazing! As well, killed it a Havlock last year! He definitely needs more recognition for his undeniable talent and his traditional country music - that is soulful and has meaning/substance.

If you like this check out his live performance at JR FM as he talks about his brother in laws fight with mental illness and his suicide. Mr. Bamford could not understand why someone would get to that point but got help to understand depression and mental illness that his brother in law fought with. It is very emotional but sheds a good light on the need for more understanding and awareness.
