not quite edgy enough or fucked up enough to be another Nirvana, but damn good in their own respect.

I fail to understand the title of this? the once great?? People need to realize there is a thing called growth ok! John said it best himself.. he's not going to be in his 40's writing like a 20 year old.. He was great back then.. but he's aged, matured and I'm sure his views have changed... His music is still definitive, thought provoking and beautiful.. You are not a true GGD Fan if you can't grow with them...

NIce to see that George got a little shine before they booted him out of the band.

Awesome. Guitars don't sound like this anymore. Such a shame.

Those who write comments like "The once awesome band..." give little thought to growth and magnification of the gifts bestowed upon performers like GGD. I'm sure they haven't forgotten where they came from or how to play their old music. I imagine the inspiration they draw upon has evolved and their true life long fans have evolved with them. MAGNETIC is awesome. I'm in my 50's and can't wait for my next live performance cause I'm gonna jam. What I wouldn't give for a day to hang with them, just to get to know them and say thanks for all the music.

Yes i know! i have been a longtime fan of The Goo Goo Dolls. They are a great band and Johnny is a great singer-songwriter. So is Robbie. The Goo are a great band one of the best. Yeah they still mad quality music and still do Magnetic is a good album IMO. Yeah when i saw that description too i was like wtf.

I never will understand the whole sold out bit. As I know if it were not for Name being a hit, that would have been the end. I've read this in interviews. They were into their 30's and were just surviving, and had 10 years behind them. Then after Name, John gets writers block...imagine finally writing a hit and then you feel your dried up. Then you get IRIS and now your move up to the star level. They found the formula and ran with it, and they earned it.
