Day 3 of 8Around Christmas I notice the roads and the stores are packed, trees are being hauled off by vehicles, lights are being put up everywhere and advertisements flood the television sets and computers with advertisements showing off pieces of plastic or electronics for sale. Every year though I notice that a lot of people get depressed because they’re not as happy as everyone else. Maybe it’s because they don’t have a family to celebrate with or because everything’s changing too fast on them. Whatever the reason, I also notice that even kids aren’t excited by it anymore – like it doesn’t even matter to them. Or maybe they see that Christmas has become a kind of routine – where it’s expected that gifts are exchanged for a day and there’s nothing else to it. We’ve kind of gotten away from what Christmas is celebrated for now though (by the nonreligious) – spending time with family and friends and celebrating everyone just because they can. But is the world so screwed up that people can’t do that anymore – even with an excuse?But you really shouldn’t need an excuse to make someone happy. Even if it’s just a smile on the street or giving someone something small for no other reason at all. Who knows – you could end up making a lot more difference than you think. Nearly everyone’s fighting their own struggle you may not know anything about. One Christmas I realized this and I just let everything that was bothering me go. Even though Christmas had become a routine for me and even though I was given a hundred reasons to be miserable that year, I helped babysit someone’s kids for no reason and helped someone up after they had fallen on a playground. When the day holiday itself finally came though and I was asked what I wanted, I said nothing. Just a few days where everyone’s happy and a year that’s better than the last.+Sgt Coldbore Don't be shy. There are too many people that let the fear of screwing up stop them. I normally dislike the weeks leading up to christmas, mostly because you see movies that shove the idea that all you need is family and christmas spirit, with adds for sales inbetween. Plus most christmas songs annoy me. Don't get me wrong, i love christmas and i love spending time with my family and friends, but this is like the only song that i've wanted to listen to. I love this band. they rock.
