The Plimsouls version is immeasurably superior. I don't dislike these guys, but this is an absolutely putrid cover that I wish I hadn't learned existed. I heard a SiriusXm dj talking about it yesterday and, well, curiosity and such....sigh. The Dolls are okay overall, though...love the 2 songs they contributed to the Freddy's Dead soundtrack.

I would say that both album have a lot more filler than good music.

That's insane.. All of the albums the original line-up did were great for what they were. The first as a hardcore punk record, the second pretty much the same with more melody, the third as a power-pop punk album that some call one of the best power pop records ever.. SSCW & ABNG were two perfect albums back to back. I can listed to any of those 5 albums anytime. I even liked the next two.. but the last two (and so far the new one) I am not that into at all.. Been a fan since 1990..

There is nothing redeeming on any dolls' record since 'Hold Me Up' and I have to really force myself in itself to even get into that record! So polished and coporate mainstream poppy... None compare to their first or jed...>

Nah, Superstar Car Wash is the best one. After A Boy Named Goo they completely fucking tanked, however; that record still had some passion, punk and balls in it.

I like the new version and the old version. But if I was going to cover this song, I like the new version.

@mymusicroom1 you're right, this version is rushed.

@orangepurplesilvery Self titled-1st release is the best record they ever made period. Don't listen to what a 40 year old's regrets tell you. When they made it they believe din it. It was sex maggots personified! All piss, vinegar, all punk. One of th ebest indie records ever. And jed was second best and admirable despite where they were headed. But after Jed they went down the tubes and solidified their descent into the toilet finally with Iris/Name and all other Johnny puke radio sellouts.
