Goldfinger playing counting the days for mtv.

"It is an inane task to try and define punk universally. Its meaning is fuzzied everywhere by contextual circumstance. A 16 year-old girl from an affluent religious family who consistently shows up to church on Sunday with her green mohawk and "Fuck Jesus" shirt is punk. But so is a 42 year old biology professor who claims that Charles Darwin's ideas were wrong. Neither person has ever heard of, nor met, one another, nor hung out together at the same underground club. And yet their challenge to established institutions and revulsion to dogmatic thinking links them spiritually. Whether this is genetic or learned is unknown. But I too feel a kinship with everyone who shares these traits. I don't feel allied with those who are exclusive, elitist, and who think that their way of life is a model for how others should live theirs. My philosophy was instilled by the open minded thinking of my parents of course, but also through the turmoil I experienced growing up. While I realize many kids had it harder than me, I have found that a lot of people who call themselves punks had similar experiences." - Grag Graffin of Bad Religion

FUCKING GOOD CHARLOTTE. they went from the lifestyles of the rich and the famous a song where they badmouthed sellouts and very rich dicks to becoming them, saying they will always be punk but of course they switch over to fucking alternative/pop. thats the moment when i truly hated the current Good Charlotte. and when i listened to goldfinger's newst album i truly respected them.

they went their own way through their own descisions, unlike some bands who went from punk to some other fucking shir like alternative leaving their fans behind and becoming sellouts, like green day(kind of listen to the album Dookie and then 21st century breakdown and youll know what i mean) and..

If only they'd stuck to ska. I love the punk songs they do but superman is and at the rate this band is going, will always be my favorite song by them. Maybe if the new album actually comes out this year like its supposed to that'll change but I still miss their ska.

I found this awesome quote from Greg Graffin of Bad Religion regarding who and what's punk. Thought I would share since it seems to come up a lot in people's comments. The quote is in the next 3 posts.
