God Save The Queen and God Defend New Zealand have equal status as the official National Anthems of New Zealand.

I married an aussie, and emigrated to Australia in 1977. I never gave up my British citizenship. Watching this video, I reinforced my decision not to take on aussie citizenship. My whole life has been devoted to Queen Elizabeth II, from the time I entered the Royal Navy in 1969. She sang with equal passion both "God save the Queen" and the New Zealand national anthem. Unlike other Commonwealth Realms (and nearly all countries), NZ actually has TWO OFFICIAL anthems of EQUAL status IN LAW-- one is God Save the Queen and the other is God Defend NZ. In Canada and Australia, for example, God Save the Queen is only the royal anthem. This is different in NZ. 10 years ago
