God Forsaken was a Finnish Doom/Death metal band, originally formed as a Gore Death metal band, named Putrid. in 1990 in Ylistaro. After two independent demos "Exhumation" and a rehearsal demo in 1991. God Forsaken got singed to French Adipocere records, through which they released their first EP "God Forsaken". EP introduced band's newer Doom-influenced way of playing Death metal. The band released two full-lengths : "Dismal Gleams of Desolation" in 1992 and "The Tide has Turned" in 1995 ( Both through Adipocere ). Band split up once in 1996, but then reunited to produce the 'Tomorrow Is Never' and 'Electric Releases' EP's in 2001-2002.

Most of the members are currently featured in a Doom Metal band called Funeral Planet

This is from their first full-length "Dismal Gleams of Desolation" of 1992

Lyrics :

Lying in my bed, afraid to fall asleep

The time passes by so fast as I'm thinking of the past

Plans for tomorrow so vast, my pointless life without peace, no reason to make it last

[Chorus]

The night comes so soon, everything seems so gloomy as I'm waiting for the dawn, dismal gleams of desolation

Looking in the mirror, all I see is the sorrow

As I close my tired eyes, drown in waves of darkness, to feel again the fears of my dreams

[Repeat]

[Repeat chorus]

After the sleepless night I leave the darkness for a moment, feeling the warm sun on my dying body

So much has to be done 'till I reach it all

WAITING FOR THE UNKNOWN

You didn't want me to fall and you have always been there

Hiding in the dark mist you saw me withering away

Why can't you let me die (Release me!) so that I can fall in eternal sleep, as I'm waiting for the unknown...

@chimbi01 Oh yes, we are entering a new wave of Old School death metal right now. It seems the metalheads are getting tired of this uber-technical plastic bullshit and are returning to darkness and ominous doomy riffing again.

Awesome, Its been a lot since I listened to this great band, I lost my tapes from them back in 2000, Its a shame that metal as a genre derived into what is now... New metal sucks, brutal death mostly sucks, there are so few bands with quality nowadays... hopefully the new awakening of the thrash wave get us in a new death metal scene..... well, thanks for the upload.....
