We grew up with a floor model Edison wind up phonograph just like this with 1920's Vaudeville Recordings on half inch thick platters and later 1940's 78 RPM Vinyls. Imagine there was no TV yet when I was born. The radio, the telephone and the hand wound phonograph was the state of the art technology then. Or you made hand drawn art and took photographs with old world Kodak film cameras, and by 1967, observed through a telescope you bought with your own earned money as a 13 year old. Neighbors gave me a shortwave radio just after I built my own Crystal Radio from scratch, not a pre-made kit. The age of discovery and invention. Today you have pre-made ipods abounding everywhere.
