John Wayne,Kim Darby and Glen Campbell formed a magical triad in the original film.

Delight Arkansas produced Glen, who could pick and grin and act, and Little Rock produced Billy Bob Clinton, who could lie and cheat and steal.

*One day, little girl, the sadness will leave your face*As soon as you've won the fight to get justice doneSomeday little girl you'll wonder what life's aboutBut other's have known few battles are won aloneSo, you'll look around to findSomeone who's kind, someone who is fearless like youThe pain of it will ease a bitWhen you find a man with true gritOne day you will rise and you won't believe your eyesYou'll wake up and see,A world that is fine and freeThough summer seems far away*You will find the sun one day*Campbell Glen - True Gritsigh...

I very much enjoyed the new version of true grit but I don't believe that it was as good as the first. Considering the makeup and graphics of the day. The first version probably cost 10% on the dollar of the remake. John Wayne can never be replaced.

Both movies were good. Wayne and Campbell were the superior Cogburn and Ranger, but the girl in the new True Grit was phenomenal. The older had a great feel to it and unforgettable scenery. The new one was truer to the novel and was incredibly detailed. Both the new and the old had good actors playing the main bad guy (Duvall in the old) and the guy who Mattie shoots. Of course, only the old one had this great song!

I liked the new one, but you're right, the original was in a field of it's own

When men could be men... and John Wayne, along with the charactors of True Grit, they speak to the time in America when people and America were "Great"...because Americans had "True Grit".

I have loved this song ever since I first saw the original movie, "True Grit". I couldn't get it out of my mind for months back then. Plus Glen Campbell was sooo hot.
