I met Kate in 1976. I was new to santa rosa california and my brother and I played at a place called The Belvedere where Kate played on weekends. She was a sweetheart and invited us to play at the santa rosa folk festival that year. it is more than fitting that festival be named these days after Kate. She did all the work putting it together in the first place and everyone that ever met her saw a really sweet and sincere human being, full of love and talent. I just found out a few years ago she was gone. I hated to hear that but i love that the festival she made happen, and her music lives on. David Keely-flint, michigan

This is the first song I ever heard Kate sing….It was on Garrisons Koehllers “A Prairie Home Companion” the week before Christmas back in the eighties..She passed away the following yearI recorded that show and still have it….when I need some magic I play that whole tape.

I recently came across Kate and was taken by her voice and the words of the song. I looked up further recordings and was so sad to find that she had left this world at her age. Her demise is so sad but on the other side she has left us with songs and words beautifully enhanced by her voice. I find it difficult to describe what i feel but she leaves me with a feeling of love and melancholy. I will never be able to see her nor thank her for her work but one thing i can do is spread her songs to others that have never heard of her. Such beauty only lasts for such a short period.
