Everyone's opinion on what is heavy metal and what is not is going to be different. I will say though that Girlschool was a band that did influence later rock and metal and they were a piece to the puzzle. The first artist that was described as "heavy metal" was Jimi Hendrix believe it or not, and his music is vastly different from what we call metal today. The bands and artists that are commonly known as heavy metal have changed as the style has developed.

There is a fine line sometimes between NWOBHM bands and rock. But it can be easily distinguished.

@occultologist There's a lil sumthin called old school heavy metal. Girlschool are old school heavy metal.

Ahhh i absolutely love Girlschool. They're from South London like I'm from :D They're considered one of my fav heroes and Kelly Johnson....i would've done anything to jam alongside her :) She was such an amazing guitarist. Rest of the members are awesome :D RIP Kelly Johnson
