In 1962, Ginny Arnell recorded this lovely heartfelt ballad about devotion and marriage. As always, she turns a rousing and tenderly sincere performance, trademarks of this talented but greatly underrated pop vocalist from the early 60's.

I really like Ginny's songs since hearing "I wish I knew what dress to wear" was played on my radio last year. I would love to know where and if I could download a backing track for that song so I can sing it during my shows.

Ginny got out of the music business in 1966 upon getting married that year.

I wish I knew what dress to wear is my favourite Ginny song, she literary wrenches her heart out on that stupid song. Without her it would have been the most ridiculous song ever. I'd probably liked it anyway though ;-j

Glad to hear from someone from Chicago, I am sure Ginny had many fans in that fair city. I will always be thankful for Chicago, for it is there that I came to know Ginny. Thanks.

Dumbhead was a big hit in Chicago and I bought the 45 the day I heard it! It's a mystery why this singer didn't have hit after hit! Thanks for sharing!

Hadn't seen this one in your "line up" yet! She sounds so "Teresa Brewer" here! Very cute! Boy, what creepy ideas they had back then for wedding favors!! :-)

I will also look for and buy the CD.....I am convinced that I spend way more money buying Cds since You tube.........because I wouldn't have purchased that which I hadn't heard....... Tell the world, and Thank You so much. I love this song, and others by her.

Just "google it" and you will get a number of internet sources for buying it. You will find many great songs on it, besides her singles.

Reading the above echoes what happened to me in 2001, I was on a business trip in Chicago, and the local radio station played "Dumbhead" and it was instant love. It was 3 weeks after 9/11, and the innocence and sweetness of Ginny's voice just blew me away. I did the exact same thing you did and now I am a huge fan of hers as I am of Lesley. By the way, check out my video on Lesley for "Fools Rush In". Thanks for your comment.

I'm a 44 year old guy her, and just discoverd Ginny's song "Dumbhead" last year! I had to have more of her, so I bought her best of CD. I really love her sweet voice. I can't understand why she was not a major star in her day. Well, the british invasion KILLED many careers in the mid 1960's, such as Diane Renay, Peggy March, The Angels, and many of the girl singers. One star that managed to survive for a short time was the Fabulous Lesley Gore!

I love Ginny's music, too, and I'm 27 years old. Tell Ginny she's turning on a whole new generation to her music.
