This is also one of the rarest footage from Gillan's solo carrer.

It was fimed on national Japanese Television in 1978.

And it turned out be the only footage of Gillan with that line up.

Ian Gillan: Vocals

Steve Byrd: Guitar

John McCoy: Bass

Colin Towns: Keyboards

Pete Barnacle: Drums

This has a similar groove to the song Dead of Night (well to my ears anyway!)

Managed to get a hold of the Jap album on cd recently off a third party seller on the web at a reasonable price. Cheers for posting Igor.

@DBZ5371 I totally agree with you. I also always loved Mr.Universe but all the re-recorded songs from Japanese Album were crap to me, cause i heard them first on Gillan albums. The best two things from Mr.Universe are title anthem and Roller (which is only song that was better in a second version)

I still consider GILLAN (the East World Japan LP) to be one of the best sounding records recorded in the Purple camp. Compared to the horrid Mr Universe released on Acrobat, it really is something else and worth tracking down if you are a fan of this period in Ian Gillan's career. Oh, thanks for posting this one and Secret of The Dance. Brilliant..

Fantastic! Ian Gillan was back to Rock'n'roll with this new recording in 1978. Still a funcky touch in the way of playing keyboards, but Colin Town was a so good song writter. All what he did with Ian Gillan is so original, so cool and fantastic! Steve Byrd on guitar. This band was made with guys from Hard Rock, Jazz, punk and rock'n'roll influences. Fantastic mariage!

@Roggiedodgie Well there are always two sides of opinion. Your not a critical ass, you just have your opinion. And thank you for sharing with us

Sorry...Gillan is a great singer, but it's songs like this that aren't real great that probably made it difficult for him to financially succeed. The whole purple reunion was probably about money. This song is pretty lame. But I'm glad I got to see it and be a critical ass for you few who've read this
