Gilbert O`Sullivan - HAPPINESS IS ME AND YOU ( `The Lovers` 1970`s TV Sit-Com Tribute ) video free download
If you lived in Britain in the early Seventies and remember Gilbert`s rise to fame you may also remember this very funny Granada Television comedy series ` The Lovers `. It starred Richard Beckinsale and Paula Wilcox as ` Geoffrey `and ` Beryl ` . It only ran for two series between 1970 and 1972 ( plus a movie ) but it is still fondly remembered . I have always thought this classic Gilbert song would have made a great theme tune for that show , but it didn`t come out until after the series ended . On a sad note - Richard Beckinsale died in his sleep in 1979 at the young age of 31 - a great loss . Do any of you viewers out there remember this TV Show ?

It was never on an album when it was released in 1974 - just a single . Since then it has appeared on all the various BEST OF and GREATEST HITS compilations . There`s a very nice live version recorded recently on my channel !11 years ago

Ray O'Sullivan's 1974 hit - "Happiness Is Me and You" - would indeed have made an excellent theme tune for the Granada TV romantic 'sitcom', The Lovers, starring Paula Wilcox and the late, great Richard Beckinsale (G.R.H.S.). I do not know why this fine song only reached # 19 in the charts, back in 1974. It certainly deserved to be a much bigger hit than that. Mr O'Sullivan's immense talent - as a singer and songwriter - was, for the most part, seriously under-rated by the British12 years ago
