It deals with the insecurity of being in a relationship that you fear will not last - that it may be " too good to be true " . Most Gilbert fans will already have this , but this is for newer fans who may be still discovering his music .

I heard this for the first time two days after I had lost the love of my life in August 1982. I think it is his best ever and hearing it can always bring me to my knees, thirty years on and I still love her and no-one else. Sad old fool!14 years ago

nice video....crazy about the song "Taking a chance on love" as you know. If that's the quality of records that aren't hits for Ray, it just shows the strength of his songwriting and Gilbertville has been given good reviews, many saying that it compares with anything he has ever done, and i agree as i am sure you do.14 years ago

@jeydee35 yes Jeydee i think we`ve discussed that song before ( Things that go bump in the night ) - I`m not to keen on the falsetto voice he uses in parts , but i love the arrangement and production of the song. Very eerie and atmospheric . Maybe i`ll put it on here one day and see what others think . I know you have the live version from 1978 on here - but the studio version from 1980 is better .15 years ago
