This must surely be one of Gilbert`s best love songs . The studio versions of this song have much bigger productions with drums and electric guitars . This great live version from 1991 is a much simpler ( but effective ) arrangement with just keyboards and acoustic guitar and it really suits the mood of the song . The images here are all rare photographs from Gilberts recent concerts including many full - stage shots that hopefully give you some idea of what it`s like to be in the audience at these shows ! Apologies for the sound quality - but this is too good to miss !

I wouldn`t really call his early material ` music hall ` and anyone familiar with his work will know he has always written songs such as this . His albums always feature a variety of styles ranging from love songs to `darker` songs and amusing songs - it`s just the productions that he tries to vary. There`s a wide cross-section of his music on my channel - see for yourself how he has evolved. And he did tour America in the early 1970`s - but not since. America has missed so much !15 years ago

Wow, does it seem to anyone else that Gilbert has finally decided to leave behind his British music hall past for something more personal? Or has his style gradually changed over the years? And also, I write this from America where I believe he was known for only one or two hits back in the 70's. After which he faded from the scene completely. Making me wonder if he ever played any concerts here as well?15 years ago

Magda ! How nice to hear from you . Yes i first heard this on the album IN THE KEY OF G and straight away it was my favourite song on that album . The single wasn`t played much on the radio here - if it had been it might have been more successful . That`s always the problem these days - getting his music heard by more people !!!15 years ago

Hi Nicole - I hope people like this version - its a nice change from the studio arrangments - but I love those too ! It would be great if he included this song in his concerts again , he hasn`t used it for a long time.15 years ago
