Amidst tours and time in the studio remixing and recording material, Jamie Smith, of London's the xx, found time to dive into a solo adventure of sorts. He was able to acquire the original sessions for Gil Scott-Heron's I'm New Here through their shared label, XL Recordings. And Smith has transformed the music within Scott-Heron's thirteenth album, which dropped in February 2010, from dark and jazzy into what's heard on We're New Here. The LP features music that could be played at the dance party of the apocalypse. The dread within Scott-Heron's vocals remains, though here they are chopped up and blended with slightly pulsing production.

For all you puritans out there, this is not the original. This is a remix of the original. Look up Gil Scott-Herons' work, it is really good.

I love the music! very atmospheric! but i think rihanna sounds a lot better on it... the way she sings it is way smoother and makes everything more rythmic

I'm sorry usually I like original artists and what not but this came on my spotify while I was studying at the library and I busted out in laughter. I couldn't believe this wasn't a spoof or something. Maybe it's this rendition. But this? No I can't take this seriously. Love the lyrics though!
