I remember when I picked this album up, the bands name got me interested and I was happy :)

Am I morbid for having problems with the lyrics...? not with the lyrical content but with their logic. It requires more energy to carry, feed and give birth to the young ones than one recovers from consuming them... it doesn't make sense from a survival perspective.

Escalating Barbarism

The weird Arabian breakdown is the best part.

One person is insane for downing this song.  I mean, out of everything on YouTube, you pick THIS to down vote?  Cereal?

@Grungekid101 Gibby Hanes is the man. Love the Butthole Surfers.

@kraastopher I only hear so much of Mike in either of them; actually I think Serj tends to be a lot more aggressive than Mike. Of course that guy from The Butthole Surfers was doing it all first.

@odinsprogeny So you're saying he does a better job of ripping off of Mike Patton than Serj? I agree.

@Scuddi I forgot to add. The album cover is a modification of the painting Watson and the Shark for anyone who was curious. John Singleton Copley. It's actually based on a real event supposedly. He used it more metaphorically though. Go see one of them (there are multiple copies) at the MFA in Boston. It's impressive in person.

@faen5863 Tool is ok. They're just kind of seen as very mainstream when it comes to everything within the genre. They still wrote some good songs. Kind of like if you like Tool there is stuff more extreme to listen to. Stuff Tool only touches on. People who hate on them are just rejecting their mainstream qualities. I don't listen to them anymore but I did and they led me to things I like more. Ignore people who hate just to hate, they're shallow and bitter.

Neue Ära

@LittleBobbio And don't forget about Neurosis! The real pioneers in post metal! Isis themselves even says that they borrows much of their sound from Neurosis!

I love this post-metal movement going on, thanks to Tool and Isis (and their 12345123421341234 side projects) for getting this ball rolling.
