Cheers for the reply. To the best of my knowledge the 2011 remaster of the album is the only one that is playing at the correct speed. I have a cd issue from the late 80's/early 90's but it has been slowed down too much and i know there is another cd issue that has been sped up slightly like the old vinyl. Confused!?.............I am lol. Basically get the remaster if you want the true cd version. Regards. David.

Not sure what version of City they've remastered as my old UK cd one plays at a slower speed than my UK (EMI Fame label) vinyl pressing i have from the mid -80's!? Regardless, whatever speed Gerry's real voice is, ha ha it's a classic album for sure!

It sounds more like a song Gerry recorded during his time in Stealers Wheel, then tucked it away for a couple of years until such time came when he needed to use it, such as on the b-side to "Baker Street".

Excellenti!!! There's a moving tribute article by Martha Rafferty in this week's (14 Aug) scottish Sunday Mail. It says the remastered edition of City will be released by EMI on 5th September.

I read a review of City to City (remastered) recently in The Sunday Mail newsaper (Daily Record's sister paper in Scotland). Seemingly as well as the original album you get this b-side and 8 demos. Checked on Amazon & Play but it's nowhere to be seen! Just the recent City/Owl 2 for 1 reissue. Oh well, maybe it's being released later in the year (here's hoping!)

The real title of this song should be Big Change In Billy Connolly. Rest In Peace Gerry, one of Scotland's greats and a sad loss to music.

@DCHurlford1 Shipyard Town was issued as a cd single originally and Hearts Desire is on it as a b-side. A new version which Gerry called Your Heart`s Desire is on his latest cd.

@choccystarfish1 No worries, probably some of the superb musicians who were on the City To City album. Cheers. (David).

choccystarfish1 Don't suppose you know who were the session players on this particular number?

I stand corrected, you'll find the song Your Hearts Desire on his 2009 offering Life Goes On. (David).

I've been a fan of Rafferty's music since the 80's but didn't know the b-side to his most famous song was a non-album composition. Interesting track, amazing how fresh it sounds , considering it was recorded about 33 years ago. Yeah there's a few of his songs from his career that haven't surfaced on cd yet. The b-side to Shipyard Town, Your Hearts Desire and the single version of the old SW number 'Turn out Fine spring to mind. Cheers for posting.

Great - I can remember buying the single on vinyl (which dates me a bit) and this was always a favourite, but underrated, track. Thanks for uploading, before it slips into obscurity. I would love to hear someone cover this...
