I can remember the time Van wanted to sing with Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames at the Manor House North London and Georgie said no!

Georgie's got that smooth, cool sound in his voice, accompanied by his B-3. Excellent!

Herre's an old Georgie Fame story. In about 1963 or 4 Georgie and the Blue Flames were booked to play the Ovaltine Ballroom in Kings Langley (sadly long gone). The crowed were expected rock 'n roll and they got modern jazz, so they were booed off the stage!

Who can remember 60s Flamingo in Wardore st when GF and the Blueflames played there. I was just a kid back then but he was really well known, especially with the West Indian community. Yea he was excellent at what today we call reggae. He is a naturally talented guy who wasn't created by the likes of Mr S Cowell. First time I heard them play I rushed out to record shop and purchased anything by GF. That was before he had chart success with songs that everyone would recognise. One of my favourites was Doctor Kitch. Never got in the charts though did it, shame because it was far superior to the vast majority of top 20 records.

Georgie Fame sounds as great now as he did in the 60's - as for Van the man he still sounds good.
