First released by Billy Grammer as ''I Wanna Go Home'' & later done by Bobby Bare as ''Detroit City'', both early versions were hits, Grammer's reaching #18 on the country chart in 1963 & Bare's reaching #16 on the Hot 100, #6 on the country chart & #4 on the AC Chart later that same year.
