It's easier to criticize somebody else, than to see yourself...gospel.

I don't like the bridge in this song so much, but otherwise it is great; and its lyrics, which I heard first in my early youth, gave me a direction in life that I try to follow to this day.

Magical Mystery Tour

The lyrics are all too true.

This song has Harrison written all over it but at times it has almost a Lennon feel to it.

I Love The Lyrics To This Song! It reminds me of too many people who worry about others than to worry about themselves and see themselves! :)

(cont'd) It reminds me of Run of the Mill, which I think about. That song was basically another way of saying you lay in the bed you make, which is true. Everyone has choices and we do meet our "own-made end". In other words, we get back what we put in and can ultimately create our own destiny/conclusion. I guess I see how it comes across as judgmental but I think that's only necessarily the case if the speaker doesn't realize that he is also subject to these rules.

This comes across as one of George's least self-righteous songs ever, in my opinion. Maybe it's even a little self-deprecating. It's evidently about dealing with the flaws/weaknesses in yourself, or holding yourself to the same standard as others. Doesn't sound self-righteous to me.

Nice to be reminded of the basics in life through a song, isn't it?

That Rolling Stone reviewer must have had their heads up their a@*! This song doesn't feel preachy at all. It feels insightful. The reviewer must have had some very serious issues with his/her own morality. Goes to show you what a powerful song this really is. That reviewer couldn't take it!

Rolling Stone dismissed this gem as "unfortunate...persistent preaching," and "a fatuous pronouncement on morality or fidelity or worldly gain or something." Thanks for the insightful analysis! Let's see - to preach would mean to give instruction, but George here is observing that it is "easier to see somebody else's wealth than to see yourself." That's not preaching, that's observing the human nature of reality!

You have excellent taste. I, for one, feel blessed to be born during this time when God blessed us with these 4 individuals who have created the most inspiring music ever. Now I can look 4ward to a new Ringo and Yoko album this year. The Beatles story keeps a goin'.
