Really does sound like one of their early songs, especially the bass line and guitar

Along with "evidence of autumn" one of the best tracks I have heard by them that was not originally on an official studio album.

Spot The Pigeon is a pure diamond in the rough mixes of 1977

A excellent lost song, with strong Banks inspiration, moods very close to "and they were three", obviously...

Very good song. Not their greatest but it's good.

I've never understood why so many people think "Scenes from a Night's Dream" is weak. It's got a bit of a jazz fusion sound to it that I rather like and which acts as a nice change of pace vis-a-vis the slow, almost somber tunes that make up most of the rest of the album. Then again, I'm not one of those who hates "Wot Gorilla," which like "Scenes" has that jazz fusion sound.

To me this song suffers from the same muddled sound that plagued much of And Then There Were Three. In my opinion David Henschel was a mediocre producer. A Trick of the Tail was a great album despite of, not because of, Henschel.

Here's how I would do it: Side 1 1. Down and Out 2. Undertow 3.The Day the Light Went Out 4. Snowbound 5. Vancouver 6. The Lady Lies Side 2 1. Deep in the Motherlode 2. Many Too Many 3. Ballad of Big 4. Say It's Alright Joe 5. Burning Rope A single would be released a month or two before with the two tracks not on the album: Follow You Follow Me and a B-side of Scenes From a Night's Dream. FYFM was released before the rest of album anyway, and it did well without having much to do with it.

Yeah, move The Lady Lies to close Side 1 then.
