The refrain shows a big Beatles signature, like specifically a Rubber Soul or Sgt Pepper's time frame. Genesis was a good band and did a good job trying different ways of playing and I'm sure that's why they succeeded in being solo artists at the same time as being in Genesis. Worked well for them!
