Land of Confusion is a song by the English band Genesis for their 1986 album Invisible Touch.

Lyrics:

I must've dreamed a thousand dreams

Been haunted by a million screams

But I can hear the marching feet

They're moving into the street.

Now did you read the news today

They say the danger's gone away

But I can see the fire's still alight

There burning into the night.

There's too many men

Too many people

Making too many problems

And not much love to go round

Can't you see

This is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in

And these are the hands we're given

Use them and let's start trying

To make it a place worth living in.

Ooh Superman where are you now

When everything's gone wrong somehow

The men of steel, the men of power

Are losing control by the hour.

This is the time

This is the place

So we look for the future

But there's not much love to go round

Tell me why, this is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in

And these are the hands we're given

Use them and let's start trying

To make it a place worth living in.

I remember long ago -

Ooh when the sun was shining

Yes and the stars were bright

All through the night

And the sound of your laughter

As I held you tight

So long ago -

I won't be coming home tonight

My generation will put it right

We're not just making promises

That we know, we'll never keep.

Too many men

There's too many people

Making too many problems

And not much love to go round

Can't you see

This is a land of confusion.

Now this is the world we live in

And these are the hands we're given

Use them and let's start trying

To make it a place worth fighting for.

This is the world we live in

And these are the names we're given

Stand up and let's start showing

Just where our lives are going to.

In my opinion Invisible Touch is the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's a thought provoking contemplation on the abstract. It deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. The music is so engaging that it's almost impossible to shake off because every song makes some connection about the spaces between people. As fun as the album is, it also has an urgency that not even the overrated Bruce Springsteen can equal. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical technique and songwriting skill, this album hits a new peak of excellence. "Land of Confusion" warns about the dangers of abusive political authority. This is song alone is far better than anything Prince or Madonna or any other artist from the decade came up with. Collins reached new heights of emotional honesty. In my opinion it is the most moving pop song of the 1980's. The song is extremely uplifting. The lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock.

This song was true the day it come out, I remembered when it did, and it will still hold true today.

The political message of this song is harrowingly relevant today. With all the global tranding treaties pending to give multinationals even more power. Soon there will be no control anymore, they will be above the law.

After this and Jesus he knows me the MSM went full out to trash Collins. He was "voted" the most ugly man in the world and other garbage by the MSM - just goes to show what happens to your career if you speak the truth or engage in some real politics. Now compare the "career" of a Muppet like Justin Beiber....
