Umm... WOW. This would've been an excellent addition to the We Can't Dance album to make it even more of a sentimental favorite to me than it already is.

Hard to believe they left this off the "We Can't Dance" album. Probably would've done well on the radio. Anyway, damn fine song & my fav "new" track from the archive box set.

This would have been a great live jam track. Shame it never made an album.

Even on an album called "We Can't Dance," this 'un is far too "dancy" sounding for the Genesis I know & love. Agree w/ all of these previous comments: that it sounds more like solo Phil, that there's a Genesis-meets-the-Police vibe here (though the Police pull it off better)--&, alas, that it was better left off the album. Phil's vocals are always good--often better than his material--but Tony's little instrumental fill was my fave part of an otherwise forgettable track. Thx for posting, though!

This is a b-side. I've heard much worse on the radio, as a-sides.

Sounds like Phil's solo material not Genesis.

Excellent tune man. Nice groove. Sounds better from the disks. Be sure to track them down.

sounds kind of like a ripoff of Madonna's "Burning Up" at times

according to "no admissions," they recording 2 additional songs that didn't make We Can't Dance. I'm guessing this must have been one of them....and also, now I know why it didn't make the album.

I have the Rhino box sets with the reissued albums. This was included on a cd of extra tracks, its mixed a bit differently then here. That version has a few extra simple drum fills to give it a little more flavor in addition to the synth beat. This song would have been a hit if it was released back in 1991. I think it would have fit in nicely with what was on radio back then. I could see some dance act like Cascada covering this today and it would still be a hit. ...This has been my $.02.

Fine vocals, but synths and programming sound like something from the mid-eighties, not the Dance album.

@C0leman, they couldn't have fit this or "On The Shoreline" on "We Can't Dance" anyway. There wasn't any room left for anymore songs. Typically, the maximum limit for CDs in those days was 80 minutes. There was already upwards of 70 minutes on the record. But I don't care, it's still a nice tune whatever the CD it's on.

what were they thinking when they left this off of the album? This song is catchy as hell and typical awesome genesis. would've been A lot better than putting another ballad
