1970 - An ad was run in "Melody Maker" by Genesis looking for musicians who were "determined to strive beyond existing stagnant music forms." Phil Collins answered the ad and eventually joined the group. He would first appear on "Nursery Cryme" released on 12 November 1971. And yes, I've picked a little played track written by Mike Rutherford, even though I was tempted to play "The Musical Box."#dapimusic #mymusichangout #britishrock #progressiverock #genesis #philcollins #mikerutherford #onthisday #onthisdate

"When your eyes can seeorder the pieces, put them back, put them back"Genesis - Harlequin - Peel Sessions BBC Radio 1 1972The best sound live in 1972#genesis Lyrics:Came the night a mist dissolved the treesAnd in the broken light colours fly, fading by.Pale and cold as figures fill the gladeGrey is the web they spin, on and on, and on and on.Through the flame still summer lingers onThough her pictures soon shatter. All, always the same. But there appears in the shades of dawning,Though your eyes are dim,All of the pieces in the sky. There was once a harvest in this land.Reap from the turquoise sky, harlequin, harlequin,Dancing round, three children fill the glade,Theirs was the laughter in the winding stream, and in between.Close your door, the picture fades againFrom the flames in the firelight. All, always the same,But there appears in the shades of dawning,Though your eyes are dim,All of the pieces in the sky. All, all is not lost,And light appears in the shades of dawningWhen your eyes can seeOrder the pieces, put them back, put them back.
