This is the coolest ever song by Genesis, in my opinion at least. "And this is what it said to me" at 5:17 is like nothing I have ever heard before :-))

This needs a little distortion. I have this album on tape cassette and it has a bit of a distortion that gives a bit of an emphasis on that slight vocal echo, and that improved the quality of the song (and this is an amazing song to begin with)

I always wanted to see an AMV of "Avatar the last airbender" with this song and here's how I envision it being:The opening will see that beginning of the very first episode where Katara speaks of the fire nation attacking and the images of them doing so. And it will show Katara and Sokka holding each other as their father goes off to war and the song going to its first verse.Too big to fly, dodo ugly so dodo must die,Dog go with fear on its side, can't change, can't change the tide.Dog baiter, agitator, asking questions, says he wants to know why.Ain't no reason that money can't buy.Mink he pretty so mink he must die, must die, must die. With this I want to use footage of "Appa's lost days" and other episodes where flashbacks of the Air temples is seen and the footage of Aang Finding the skeletal remains of his mentor Monk Gyatso before going into the avatar state.Sun he giving life in his light,Part of the system,Friend to man, friend to the trees,No friend to the snowman.Where does he go, what does he do?Does he meet with the mole, the stream, the cloudAnd end up at the bottom of the sea.For this I want to use footage of Avatar Roku being told of the comet which will make Fire benders extra strong and footage of Roku destroying the Firebender Temple after Admiral Zhao has raided it.Fish he got a hook in his throat,Fish he got problemsWhere does he go, what does he do?Does he hope he's too small, to poor a haul,Who'll end up being thrown back in the sea.I'm back in the sea. With this I want to put in the scene of when Katara and Sokka Find Aang, since it shows them fishing but it's also about how he pops up from the ocean after Katara Waterbends him up.Caretaker, horror movie,Only one eye, only needs one boot,Sweet lady, she knows she looks goodVacuum coming for the bright and the brute. With this I'd like to bring Prince Zuko and Princess Azula into the picture but in a twist when it gets to the "Bright and the brute" part, I'd point out Zuko as being the bright and Azula as being the brute.Big noise, black smokeSo pig-headed couldn't see the joke. But it ain't funnyAsk the fly on the wallIt's only livingIt don't matter at all, at all, at all. With this I'm not so sure, maybe I'll use the raid on the watertribe village by Zuko but I can also use Zhao's raid on the water tribe city in "siege of the north" with the black soot filled snow announcing the fire navy arrival.Pimp, he make you drool and grunt,He got an answer. One he got a dream of love,Deep as the ocean.Where does he go?What does he do?Will the siren team with Davy Jones,And trap him at the bottom of the sea? With this I'm thinking "Siege of the north when Princess Yue sacrifices herself and kissing sokka before vanishing and Aang destroying the Fire nation fleet. And ending it with Zhao refusing Zuko's help before he's being taken by the Ocean spirit. But then I wanted to end with a lighter note.Meanwhile lurking by a stone in the mudTwo eyes looked to see what I was andThen something spoke and this is whatIt said to me.......Clothes of brass and hair of brownSeldom need to breatheDon't need no wings to flyOoh and a heart of stoneAnd a fear of fire and waterWho am I?Where I'd like to use footage from "The swamp" and the first preview of Toph.Well this is what I have so far, what do you guys think, any suggestions?

agree with sahogan but would like to add that they were a most popular band as a glitter 'rock show' glitter rock era band. rock opera was something they practically forged alone but it faded fast with all the other types of rock unfolding at the same time. i guess the old genesis rock opera peter gabriel oriented stuff wasn't meant to become a mainstream way of expression. did this make sense(?) but then~ does lurker make sense? <];D

Important as he was 2 the band lyrically, Pete Gabriel was The Big Tree that had 2 be felled so the rest of this band could grow. Not so much Mike Rutherford, as steady as he is nondescript, as Tony Banks--who became THE dominant component of Genesis' post-Gabriel sound--& Phil Collins: 1 of THE voices of modern rock (his solo work aside), & all the way 2 the end. Check out his vocal performance in Driving The Laugh Spike: an impassioned gem--as is an ABACAB album that owes no apologies 2 anyone

King Crimson in 1995 and I think in 2008 had two drummers, The Allman Brothers had two drummers at the begining, I don't know if the still have two, Frank Zappa had two drummers for a few gigs in 1973/74, the Indigo Jam Unit have a drummer and a guy who plays drums or percussion, it depends on the song, the Don Ellis Orchestra had 2 or even 3 drummers sometimes, Ornette Coleman's Prime Time had 2 drummers, and i'm unable to think of more bands right now.
