In response to Leroy.... I fully agree! This man may have someone else write the songs he sings, but he is the one who makes those songs touch your heart. His style.... his timing..... his inflection..... his range.... his breath control..... all add up to make him one of the very best that country music has ever seen. I have heard people speak of the voice being an instrument,""like a fine violin"..... That reminds me of the song about the old man who came forward during an auction and taking the old violin, played it masterfully. He gave the violin new value.... new worth.... new meaning to the people who heard him play that old "instrument". That is what Gene Watson does with a song..... And nobody does it better...

one of my favorite Gene Watson songs. His voice just seems tailor made for this song. Maybe it's because he sang a lot of Gospel with his family but it's a stunner. Someone asked about the male back up vocalist. I/m not sure but I hear he's related to CW McCall. His name must be listed somewhere online.

I agree with Leroy Norwood..and Brendan Theodore. Gene Watson's voice gets better all the time. I am almost 80 years old and I have heard many country singers in my time but none can compare with Gene. I met him at the Opry last year and I told him how much I appreciated him and his singing. He looked at me with a surprised look on his face and thanked me. Such a nice, kind man.

The man's singing is sort of like fine wine, the older he get's, the better he is. A couple of the comments made seem to disbelieve the value of the message. I've been there and done it all.
