Crying -

"Gene Pitney" - Year Song Released 1967

I was all right for a while.

I could smile for a while.

But then I saw you last night,

You held my hand so tight.

As you stopped to say hello.

Oh you wished me well, you couldn`t tell.

That I`ve been cry-y-y--yin'..over.

cry-y-y--yin'..over you.

Oh you said so long left me standing all alone

Alone and cryin', cryin', cryin', cry..in'

It`s hard to understand

That the touch of your hand

Can start me cryin'

I thought that I

Was over you

But it`s true oh so true

I love you even more than I did before

But darling what can I do-o-o

Oh you don`t love me and I`ll always be

Cry-y-y-y-in' over you

Cry-y-y-y-in' over you

Yes now you`re gone

And from this moment on

I`ll be crying, crying, crying, crying

Yeah crying, crying over you...

Very good version ,but Roy is and will always be the best. However, check out Gene's version of Cara Mia he hits the notes in the last part of the chorus in full voice (Jay Black does it in falsetto)There should never be any doubt that Gene was a wonderful singer.

Love Roy's version also love Gene's--Great song and one I can relate to.

St Pauli

you're correct,he had to go into Falsetto to make the high's.Roy on the other hand was in his spectacular octive range.I'm not saying Gene wasn't a beautiful singer,he just should have not taken on the path only Roy could travel.look up "The Fools"doing a cover of Running Scared, they nail it.Roy would have been proud.

St Pauli

you are so wrong,he was accepted all over the world and performed in the world of Pavarotti in Italy.a solid stream of hits from 60-to 68 and wrote songs that made hits for many.better check your facts before you demean this great star.

If you do not anything about the range of voices, please do not comment. You must have a tin ear! Its not Roy but its Gene in his terrific voice.

By fan of both Pitney and Orbison. This is Roy's song.

I actually prefer this version. I know that will piss a lot of Orbison fans off, but I just love Gene's voice
