What a fantastic balladeer; one of the best if not the best. R.I.P. Gene ♥

Thank you for another great share of Gene Clark's, CollarboneOfAHare. He was so underrated in his day. :( R.I.P. Gene. ♥

This is my second-favorite song from the Demos CD. Knowing that each of these is a swan song of sorts can make the album almost too painful to hear sometimes. It's like Gene had reached another plane at that point and we, poor mortals, can only knock at the gates of the places he goes. "Pledge to You" is what really caps it for me, timeless and forgiving and wise beyond measure. Gene lives!

Gene's voice and songs just get in your brain or should I say, heart. For me it takes 2 or 3 hearings and then I'm just walking down the road and....bang the tune is playing in my head. Yesterday it was ' Refuse from a silver phial' and tomorrow it'll be this melody! Sadly missed.

Brilliantly chosen for the soundtrack by Amanda Brown (Go Betweens) in the powerful aussie movie...Look Both Ways...this song and the movie make me cry each time

Am sure Michael Stipe was influenced by Gene.I once stood next to Gene at Cardiff University after he had supported Lindisfarne in 1985.He was enjoying a pint of Guiness,I was to shy to approach him!
