I love this version, but (and this is very picky) the lyrics should be 'BUT I love it when...' To me the original point of the song is that the Hollywood idea of love is something old fashioned and over blown. Something that can't ever be lived up to. A cliche. But aside from all the stupid expectations the singer is talking about what love actually is. Hearing that person read to you, or sing in the shower. Ordinary everyday things that people really experience. Saying 'AND I love it when...' Doesn't contradict the ideas of the 'long and boring' book of love. He's supposed to be saying that that idea of love is stupid BUT what he does love is blah blah blah. Maybe that's just me, but it's amazing how one tiny lyric can change the whole meaning of a song. (One other interpretation is that he's saying on the face of it love is stupid but when he's in love he can't help himself. Either is good, both are beautiful, but both should be BUT!) 8 years ago
