Can anyone give context for this performance? This doesn't look like a drum clinic, but a performance for an audience. What is this?

I love Gavin's precise technique and compositional approach, but what is up with that *TIGHT*, *CHOKED* sound? It's so prevalent today -- this over-reliance on close mic'ing -- and, despite a thumbs-up-worthy performance, I absolutely can't stand it. There is so much to learn from a maestro like this guy, but I can barely sit through a single song. He doesn't bounce the sticks, the reso head is tuned down to a dull thud, and those beautiful drums don't get to sing. It's the same thing with Matt Garstka. Bummer.

I've watched this video over and over and over again..... and I've got the feeling sound and video are just sliiiightly out of sync, 0.2 sec or something ;) I'm a drummer myself and when tapping along movement and sound just doesn't sync perfectly, not a complaint, i was just wondering ;)

One of the best drum clinics I've seen was Gavin, along with Todd Sucherman as far as skill and great guys with real things to say. P Tree is a wicked band.

Welp, looks like danny Carey will have to take a back seat to Harrison... Bc he is the best progressive drummer alive. So glad I found him just now. Utterly amazing drummer, wow... Killer sounding drums too. Sonor always sounds the best to me. Over dw, pearl, etc.. This video is amazing!
